Stony Brook Admission Process & Application Documents
SUNY Korea's Stony Brook University program admission process is conducted through the online
application system on the SUNY KOREA website. The annual number of applicants is divided into spring and
fall semesters, and recruitment is conducted twice a year.
All applications must be sutmitted through the SUNY Korea website. Students are recruited twice a year, for
Fall and Spring semesters.
Deadlines and required documents are subject to change according to the adjustments made in
the university’s policies

a. Transfer applicants: Applicants with less than 24 college credits must submit college
transcript and high school transcripts
b. GED applicants are highly advised to submit other supplementary documents
a. Completed within the online application page and must be 650 words or less
b. Applicants with gap year(s) are highly recommended to explain
c. Optional essays may be submitted through the online application
3Letter of Recommendation
a. Employees of private academies and SUNY Korea faculty/staff are NOT recommended as a referee
b. An electronic form will automatically be sent to a referee via email once applicants enter
the contact information in the application page

Submitting a standardized English test score may be waived if:
Applicant is from an English speaking country
Applicant has completed at least 3 years of high school in the US
For Transfer Applicants: Taken an English college course with a grade of “C”
or better, excluding ESL courses
Supplementary Documents (Optional)
Other documents such as SAT, ACT, AP/IB,College Scholastic Ability Test, high school
portfolio, certificates, award, etc. may be submitted.
All submitted documents should be issued in English.
Documents issued in a different language should be translated and notarized.
Scholarship/Financial Aid applications must be submitted with the online application

Other Important Information About SBU Admissions
Students who are deemed eligible for the program with the exception of
English skills are accepted provisionally. Students will participate in Intensive
English Courses (IEC) for three to twelve months (depending on the proficiency level)
before starting their studies in their major. Students who have been admitted
provisionally may submit standardized English test score before the final deadline may
be changed to regular admissions.
Not all applicants are required to do an interview, but some may be
offered to participate in one. Interviews are conducted for additional review and
verification of applicants' eligibility for acceptance, and are usually conducted online
for about 30 minutes with the head of the department or a professor from the department.
Applicants can choose up to 2 majors when applying. Applicants applying
as Business Management Majors can choose a Second Major; however, applicants applying as
other Majors cannot choose Business Management as their 2nd Major.
