On May 14, 2025, Professor Gayoung Park, from the Department of Technology and Society, delivered a special lecture at Coffee & Connection 2025, hosted by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Korea at the GM Technical Center Korea (GMTCK) in Incheon. The event, themed “Leading the Way: Heritage & Future of Women Leadership,” brought together professionals from various industries to explore DE&I (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) and leadership.
The event was made even more meaningful by the attendance of Michelle Gardner, Vice President at General Motors, who delivered the keynote speech and fireside chat. Professor Park’s special lecture followed this main session.
In her talk, “Women Bridging Futures: Leadership with Accountability – Building Human-Centered Leadership in the Age of AI,“ Professor Park shared how human-centered design, empathy, and accountability can reshape leadership in the age of AI. Reflecting on her journey as an engineer, she discussed how leadership in the age of AI means connecting across disciplines, building bridges between people and systems, and co-designing futures with a strong sense of responsibility.
Her message offered a deep insight about how engineers are not just builders of systems, but bridge-builders of meaning, ethics, and human connection, fulfilling a growing need for responsible, inclusive leadership as we design the future with AI.
How can researchers explore a place they have never visited? At the IGC Sebasi Special Lecture, this question connected Professor Jongseong Brad Choi’s research experiences with a broader message about curiosity, learning and his personal growth. Held on October 15, 2026, at the Incheon Global Campus Auditorium under the theme “Learn Bold, Lead Global: Leaping into a Wider World,” the event featured five speakers. Among them was Jongseong Brad Choi, Professor of Me

Professor Yoon Seok Yang of the Department of Computer Science at SUNY Korea is participating in a KRW 4.5 billion government-funded R&D project to develop an AI-powered wearable system for personalized epilepsy seizure detection, classification, and prediction. Running from July 2026 through December 2030, the project has allocated KRW 500 million to SUNY Korea. Led by Oceansbio, the multidisciplinary consortium includes Samsung Medical Center, the Korea Electronics Technology Instit
Professor Mario Rüttgers of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at SUNY Korea has contributed as a co-author to a new study published in Nature. The work introduces HydroGym, a computational platform that brings together reinforcement learning and computational fluid dynamics to develop intelligent strategies for controlling fluid flows. One of the study’s key findings is that reinforcement-learning agents can learn flow-control strategies in one computational environment
