BIOGRAPHY
Dr. MacKenzie Lenz earned their B.S. in physics in 2014, Masters in physics in 2018, and Ph.D. in Physics in 2020 all from Oregon State University. They are currently an Assistant Professor at SUNY Korea teaching physics lecture and labs with calculus. Physics education research is their research specialty having focused on sensemaking for their doctoral degree and graduate education as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Utah. Prior to teaching at SUNY, they taught as a teaching assistant at OSU for 8 years, teaching a wide range of labs, studios, and recitations. Additionally, they were a part-time instructor at Linn Benton Community College, for 5 years. Dr. Lenz's interests also extend to community work and involvement having created and run the Graduate Student Committee in their third year of graduate school and being president of the Physicists for Inclusion in Science (PhIS) Club at OSU for 2 years. Dr. Lenz also has a for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) work having designed and run a DEI workshop at multiple conferences and at multiple universities.
