Biography

Dr. Jun Young Kim received his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2021. He also received his M.A. and B.A. in Philosophy and a B.A. in Religious Studies from Seoul National University. His research focuses on seventeenth-century philosophy and is primarily concerned with metaphysical questions. He is particularly interested in notions of dependence, essence, modality, and compossibility in the early modern period, with a specific focus on Leibniz. His recent publications include “Leibniz on Spinoza’s Priority by Nature” (Res Philosophica, 2024).
